The grades, compared
304 stainless steel
The stainless steel most cheaper jewelry is made of. Fine day to day, but less resistant to salt water and sweat over time.
316 stainless steel
Adds molybdenum, which makes it far more resistant to salt water, chlorine and sweat than 304.
316L stainless steel
Everything 316 has, with less carbon — the most corrosion-resistant of the three, and the grade used for surgical instruments and body jewelry. Every NOVS piece.
